Achievements of the department

The specialty "Psychology" of the East Kazakhstan State University was opened in March 1991 on the basis of an order within the psychology-pedagogical faculty.

In 1994, the first specializations were opened in the specialty: a practical psychologist in the education system, a defectologist; legal psychologist; the manager on work with the personnel with knowledge of a foreign language.

In 2004, the specialty "Defectology" was opened on the basis of the department. Training is conducted immediately on 4 educational trajectories: oligophrenopedagogy, surdopedagogy, speech therapy, typhlo-pedagogy.

A special role in the formation of specialties was played by Doctor of Psychology, Professor Natalia Alekseevna Ladzina, Candidate of Psychological Sciences, Associate Professor Ruskin Efimovna.

Since the foundation of the department, more than 1000 specialists have been trained, working in different spheres of social and psychological practice of the city of Ust-Kamenogorsk and the East Kazakhstan region of the Republic of Kazakhstan. There are graduates who successfully work in scientific and practical centers of Kazakhstan, Russia and Europe. The pride of the department are graduates who have successfully completed postgraduate studies and defended their theses for a Ph.D theses.

Such departments of the city as the City Education Department, the Department of Justice of the East Kazakhstan Region, the Regional Psychoneurological Dispensary and others cooperate with the Department.

In 2005 the first magistracy was opened in the specialty "Psychology", in 2010 - a master's degree in the specialty "Defectology".

Labs

Employees of the department initiated the creation and are the heads of the psychophysiological laboratory of the Center for Qualification Confirmation (2012), the Akashev Laboratory of Legal Technologies (2014) and the Zyatker Scientific and Educational Center (2016). On the basis of data from laboratories and centers, training and development of practical competencies using psycho-physiological, logopedic instruments and equipment are conducted.

Branches of the department

Since June 2016, an agreement has been signed on cooperation and the opening of a branch of the department on the basis of the cabinet of psychological and pedagogical correction of the city of Ust-Kamenogorsk. In this branch since the beginning of the academic year, students have the opportunity to practice practical skills of working with children who have special features in development. Organized volunteer activities of students. Defectologists and psychologists participate in summer camps for children with autism spectrum disorders.
